Danish companies gear up for Circular Bio-based Europe 2024 Funding

On 11 January 2024, the vibrant collaboration between Food & Bio Cluster Denmark and the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science brought together approximately 80 representatives from Danish companies and knowledge institutions for a seminar hosted by Novo Nordisk Foundation. The focus of the event was to shed light on the intricacies of the Circular Bio-based Europe 2024 Joint Undertaking (CBE) program, an initiative poised to offer a substantial €211 million in funding opportunities from the European Union.

Participants at the seminar received invaluable insights, including tips and tricks, along with step-by-step application procedures, crucial for making the most out of the funding available under the CBE program. Drawing from the wealth of experience shared by entities such as Novozymes, the University of Copenhagen, DTU, and Food & Bio Cluster Denmark, attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of how to successfully run projects within the CBE framework.

Facilitated through a partnership between the European Commission and the Bio-based Consortium (BIC), the CBE 2024 program aims to fortify and promote competitive circular and bio-based industries throughout Europe. Representatives from the CBE secretariat and BIC made a special trip to Denmark, emphasizing the potential for Danish companies to actively participate in the 14 project calls set to launch in 2024.

The time is ripe for Denmark to assert its presence on the global stage by formulating targeted applications to tap into the €211 million funding pool. Food & Bio Cluster Denmark stands ready to guide and assist companies on this journey, leveraging its expertise and experience to help businesses navigate the application process effectively.

While acknowledging that the road to accessing these funds is not without its challenges, there’s comfort in knowing that interested parties have ample time to refine their project proposals. The application window spans from April 24 to September 18, 2024, providing a generous timeline for meticulous planning and preparation.

Food & Bio Cluster Denmark offers crucial support to companies and knowledge institutions, including a voucher scheme under Horizon Europe. This scheme allows businesses to seek assistance from knowledgeable institutions and GTSs, optimizing their applications for the best chance of success.

As Danish entities gear up to embrace the opportunities presented by the CBE 2024 program, collaboration, innovation, and strategic planning will play pivotal roles in ensuring the country’s active participation in promoting competitive, circular, and bio-based industries across Europe.
