MainstreamBIO Wraps Up a Week of Milestones in Brussels
Last week marked a significant chapter in the journey of the MainstreamBIO Project with two major events highlighting its impact and direction for the future.
On May 13–14, MainstreamBIO proudly co-organized the European Rural Circular Bioeconomy Conference (EuRCBC) in Brussels, under the collaborative umbrella of the Rural Bioeconomy Alliance (RBA). This flagship conference brought together six Horizon Europe projects—MainstreamBIO, ROBIN, SCALE-UP, BioRural, Biomodel4Regions, and RuralBioUp—for two dynamic days of dialogue, innovation, and policy exploration.
Held at the Comet Louise venue, the event hosted over 150 in-person participants, including researchers, policymakers, rural stakeholders, and innovators. Together, they explored practical tools, inspiring success stories, and forward-looking strategies for scaling up circular and bio-based solutions in Europe’s rural regions. Sessions ranged from interactive workshops to high-level discussions focused on the EU Green Deal and the Farm-to-Fork Strategy.
Immediately following EuRCBC, on May 14, the MainstreamBIO consortium gathered for its Final General Assembly, taking stock of progress and coordinating the final stretch of project activities. With the project concluding in August 2025, this final partner meeting was instrumental in mapping out final deliverables, ensuring the legacy of the project is well-positioned to make lasting impact.
As MainstreamBIO enters its final months, all partners remain committed to mainstreaming small-scale bio-based solutions—across rural Europe and beyond.
