On May 13th, 2025, MainstreamBIO will host its final event as part of the European Rural Circular Bioeconomy Conference, a collaborative initiative bringing together six Horizon Europe projects – MainstreamBIO, ROBIN, SCALE-UP, BioRural, BIOMODEL4REGIONS, and RuralBioUp. The event will take place over two days, offering a unique chance to explore policy developments, innovative bio-based solutions, and real-world applications that are shaping the rural bioeconomy across Europe.

The European Rural Circular Bioeconomy Conference marks an important milestone in Europe’s bioeconomy transition, bringing together local communities, policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers to support sustainable solutions tailored to rural regions. By showcasing the work and impact of Horizon-funded projects, the conference will highlight the challenges, opportunities, and pathways to integrating bio-based innovations into regional economies.

The first day of the conference will focus on real-world success stories, providing participants with insights into initiatives that have successfully revitalized local communities, implemented sustainable bio-based solutions, and promoted stakeholder engagement. Discussions will also highlight practical tools and strategies that support regional actors in advancing the bioeconomy, as well as case studies demonstrating how businesses, policymakers, and local organizations can collaborate effectively.

During the second day the focus will be shifted towards policy and governance, exploring the critical role of decision-makers in supporting the rural bioeconomy. High-level discussions, hands-on training, and policy recommendations will equip attendees with actionable strategies for scaling bio-based solutions, ensuring that regional efforts align with broader European sustainability goals, such as the Green Deal and Farm-to-Fork Strategy.
